Leap Day Bathtime

My girls have a number of books for the bathtub - they love to read - everywhere!

Bubble baths are a special treat in our house....often reserved for nights when I get home late from work and it gives us a way to play together a little before putting the girls to bed, since Lauren usually goes down around 7:30 and Hannah at 8.  Lauren is just learning to enjoy the bubbles (and the fact that Hannah plops them all over her!).  They enjoy playing together and trying to "splash Mommy" and especially love playing "peek a boo" with the shower curtain.  I love this age!

Glasses

No, the girls aren't wearing glasses for real (at least not yet - they do have a nearly blind mother, but I'm praying they got their eyes from their dad, even if they aren't blue!)......but they sure do like to pretend and wear Jon's.

Daniel in the Tent

Daniel was in Columbus this week for a job (filming some commercials for dental products at Easton), so he stayed here and hung out with us quite a bit.  On days where he had to be at Easton at 6:30 or 7am, he stayed the night with another friend who lived on that side of town, but he was here for dinner and stayed until the girls went to bed.  In fact, he usually got home from work and was greeted by screeches at the door from Hannah.  She then promptly drug him into the tent that we made behind a chair.  Daniel would then spend the rest of the evening until I forced Hannah to go to bed pretend playing doctor, babies, Diego's birthday, or some other made-up activity.  She didn't even let him eat dinner (at least not anything involving real food, but I think she did give him some pretend meals).  Once she was down for bed (and usually after she'd talked him into a story or two), he could eat dinner and visit with us a little.  Good thing she goes to bed at 8pm!  Daniel is such a great uncle and a good sport to play along with his nieces.

Utensils!

Lauren is getting really good at using her fork and spoon.  It's so amazing to me how quickly they grow up.  Before I know it the highchair will be back in the basement....

Love a Box

I tend to break down boxes that arrive at the house and put them in recycling just to keep the clutter under control, but Hannah got the most recent delivery....you see, my daughter loves to put things in other things.  Boxes, bags, purses, you name it, she'll fill it and parade it through the house (and then not put it away....or dump everything out of it and only put some of the items away and claim that they are too heavy to return to their original home).  Well, she had the box filled in no time -- she just didn't realize that Lauren wanted IN with the toys to play.

Farewell Pool Table

We're selling our pool table....and turning the basement into a playroom.  Hard to believe we've had it for eight years.  Before Jon and I got married, he was offered a pool table for free "just move it," and it was an offer we couldn't refuse.  So, we did a quick "finish" of the basement with kanga stick-down carpet and some dry-lock "painted" exterior walls.  We even ran a heater down there to help warm it up.  Jon said it was the only thing that made him want to come visit me during the time I was living in the house before we got married (since I didn't have cable).  We enjoyed the basement for about 3 years and then our sump pump failed one year after Christmas and we discovered sopping wet carpet when I went to put away the Christmas tree.  We had to rip up most of the carpet and throw it out that night....at that point we decided we'd just wait to re-do it and finish it "right."  We've spent the past 4 years only occasionally using the pool table (it's gotten the most use as a baby-clothes sorting table and a gift wrapping table), so we decided to sell it and all of the accessories on Craigslist.  We required the purchaser to use a professional moving company so we'd know they were serious about it and sold it for a song (really covering the cost of accessories that we'd purchased).  Although we're excited about our new space, I think Jon and I are both a little sad to see the table go.
