Hannah loved to help decorate the tree this year. I set out the ornaments that were "safe" for her to use and she got to put them anywhere she wanted. There were a few branches that had about a dozen ornaments on them.....she didn't quite get spreading them out....but she enjoyed herself (and we enjoyed watching her!). She also loved getting to put the star on the tree with Jon.

Basement Project - Phase 1
We plan on finishing out basement in 2012. Step one is waterproofing it. We had a company come in and dig up a foot around the inside and they laid new pipes, river rock, and when it is re-cemented, there will be a plastic waffle-weave "thing" against the wall so any moisture will go down into the rock/drain system instead of out into the wall or onto the floor. Here are some pictures of the work in progress....

Ely Boys
I did a photo shoot of Gavin and Grant to help Rachel get some pictures of the boys for their Christmas card. There were too many other people in the room to get the boys to look at the camera...but they did enjoy my jingle bell ornaments (and, I didn't realize how much glitter came off of them until we were done!). Enjoy a few shots of two of my nephews!

Gavin's 3rd Birthday Party
Gavin's 3rd Birthday Party was something else! Gavin's birthday isn't until December 2nd, but with family in for Thanksgiving, Rachel decided to have it over the weekend so more people could attend. Rachel had a dinosaur-themed party since Gavin loves dinosaurs. It was a lot of fun. She had a "dino dig," the kids all got to wear "explorer" hats, and all of Gavin's cousins (from both sides of the family) were there to join in the fun. Here are the pictures I managed to get:
Olivia reads to Grant
Lauren with Aunt Danila

Olivia, Gavin & Hannah are ready to explore!
The "dino dig" was really neat. It was a sandbox filled with popcorn and there were little "treasures" (dinosaurs and other trinkets) hidden in the popcorn. Of course, a lot of the popcorn was eaten by the kids....but they had a good time with it!
The big kid explorers
Evelyn and Lauren just checked everyone out!

I don't know if Hannah liked the bounce castle or the popcorn better...she was having a great time!
Lauren was enjoying getting bounced in the air when the big kids would jump
Olivia the gymnast was doing tricks for everyone
Gavin's Mimi and Papa helped him open his gifts
(with help provided by Olivia and Hannah too....poor guy having 4 girl cousins to boss him around!)
Ryan the Astronaut
The kids weren't so sure about the helmet until they saw people with the visor open

Happy Thanksgiving
This Thanksgiving we hosted the Woolley side of the family. This year's Thanksgiving meal planning was all set weeks in advance and I'd planned to take off the day before Thanksgiving to have some quality time with the girls at home, do my grocery shopping, and make pumpkin rolls. Instead, life (well, actually work) intervened.
I was starting to get sick earlier in the week, and by Tuesday afternoon I wasn't feel all that great, but a client wanted to have a meeting downtown Wednesday morning. I (reluctantly) agreed to participate from 7:30-9:30am, but told them I had another commitment that would keep me from participating after that point. No questions were asked, but my "other commitment" was a play date with Hannah's preschool friends! So, I dressed for work and took my box of tissues with me, did the meeting (blowing my nose and hand sanitizing througout!), and as I was getting ready to leave the meeting, was asked to do a phone call later in the afternoon. I (again, reluctantly) agreed but said it would have to be moved back 30 minutes (playdate priorities!)....then when they told me they wanted me back downtown with the client, I said it would have to be moved back 60 minutes. At that point I thought that there is no way they'd move a call with 1/2 dozen lawyers back an hour the day before Thanksgiving, but they did. So, I ran home, changed into "mom" clothes, went to a fun playdate, came home, put the girls down for naps and changed back into lawyer clothes and drove downtown for the call. They call ended up taking over 2 hours, so back home again around 5pm.....to work at home on other stuff I'd promised to clients "before Thanksgiving." At about 6:30, I finished my work and ate dinner with the family, feeling totally crappy and having none of my stuff done for Thursday. I played with the girls a little and put them to bed. At that point, around 8 or 8:30pm, Jon sent me to bed and told me I could grocery shop later in the evening with Danila. When Josh & Danila arrived about 10pm, I woke up started about not having groceries and the store closing. My wonderful husband and sister-in-law and brother-in-law took my grocery list and left the house at 11pm to get my groceries (while I prepped the turkey that had arrived from Pittsburgh). I finished with the turkey and went to bed. When I woke up on Thanksgiving day, not only were my groceries purchased, but a bunch of the prep work for the side items was already done. How wonderful!!!!
Thanksgiving itself was quite nice -- we had a great meal and everyone enjoyed themselves. We're to the point of having a kids table for Hannah and Gavin, which is fun. We had leftovers to enjoy later in the evening, and had a great time visiting and playing games.
Hannah shows Uncle Josh how the I-Pad works
Today, Jon and Josh got up at 4am and got me a great Black Friday deal on a new washer and dryer....and we were able to give Jon's parents our old set! All of the ladies went shopping at the outlets, but since shopping isn't quite my thing (and I wasn't feeling 100%), I stayed home and did some Christmas shopping online and watched the kids. It worked out great b/c the women were shopping ALL DAY! I enjoyed resting in a quiet house. Everyone was back at our house for leftovers and then pizza later on.... After our meal, we set up the furniture in the front room for a mini photo shoot for the Ely's....here are my test pictures to make sure the lighting and props were in the right place....

Sesame Street Live
One of the perks of my job is being able to get tickets to the firm's suite at one of our local arenas. This month I was able to get the entire suite for us and three other families to attend Sesame Street Live. Hannah was SO EXCITED to see Elmo in person. We had a great time, even if a cup of popcorn was spilled over the ledge, requiring a visit from security (but in our defense, security also visited the suite next door, since there were a bunch of kids there too and we aren't 100% sure the popcorn came from one of our darlings!).
It's so hard to get a group of kids to look at the camera.! The kids include:
(l to r, bottom to top) Jaidyn, Owen, Rachel, Megan, Jake, Lauren & Hannah.
Lauren enjoyed the popcorn!

Susan & Jaidyn
The view from our seats after I figured out the settings on my camera and switched to a zoom lens....
The theme was about making music & all of the kids loved the songs....and the popcorn and Capri Suns that the firm provided! We apologized to the cleaning staff a number of times because of the amount of popcorn on the floor, but for 7 kids, it wasn't THAT bad.
