Although we've known we were pregnant since July 28th, we finally told our parents on September 8th. I had wanted to wait until October 5th to tell them because both sets of parents were going to be at the house in person (and I'd ordered a cake as a cute way to tell them -- see above -- we got the cake anyways and used it to celebrate instead of announce). Jon finally decided that it was silly to wait any longer and called his mom!
Needless to say....all parents (soon-to-be grandparents) are excited. Sally told us that she "needed to sit down" to take in the news, and Colleen just kept saying "a what?!".....Burl told us that I just had to try to keep up with my sister (who announced she was pregnant in July -- she's due in January - 10 weeks before we are due).
We're due on March 31, 2008.
I've been feeling pretty good for the most part and am just a bit tired (but I'm also still working 50+ hours a week, so that might have something to do with it too). The only weird thing so far is that the smell of toothpaste makes me queasy. Jon's solution was to stop brushing my teeth, but I decided to just tough it out. We're pretty excited and are looking forward to this adventure -- all except for the lack of sleep part. I've somehow lost my ability to sleep like I'm in a coma. For the first time in 3 years of marriage, I've started to move in my sleep, which wakes Jon up. He certainly preferred the "coma" version of sleep.
We don't think Abby realizes yet how much her life will change when she becomes a "big sister" -- it would probably be easier on her if we just got another dog, but one big dog in the house is probably enough (but, now that I think about it, a Woolley kid will likely be bigger than the dog pretty quickly, so maybe we should have just gotten another dog....)
