6 Months Old!

I'm A Cutie Pie!!

Our child isn't modest...if only I could get her to keep her dress down...

Yesterday Hannah turned 6 months old.....Wow. It is so hard to believe that our little peanut is already 6 months old. She is now weighing in at just over 12 1/2 pounds (12 lbs, 12 oz according to the home scale).

She is truly a joy in our lives -- everything we went through to have this little girl was absolutely worth it. There is nothing better than when she smiles at us. She has recently started "talking" and blowing bubbles. Her personality is starting to emerge more and more. She knows what she wants, that is for sure. There are days where she only wants Mommy, or to move around (heaven forbid you try to sit down while holding her), or her "froggie," or to look at Abby. She has strong legs and will push off with them when she can. Just tonight she finally rolled back to stomach (she's been rolling tummy to back for a while, but when going from her back she kept getting stuck on the arm on the bottom...after grunting and trying for awhile she'd cry out for us to move her). She is constantly chewing on her fingers and hands, puts everything in her mouth, laughs at you when you make faces, loves pee-a-boo, and is quite ticklish! She is such a delight.

Today Hannah had her 6-month developmental therapy appointment at Riverside. Basically, the occupational therapist confirmed what we already know -- Hannah is doing great! The therapist was a little worried that Hannah's score would be low because she fell into the 3.5-4.5 month old category by only 2 days, but it wasn't a problem. The therapist played with Hannah on the floor with a series of toys and objects that would help her gauge where Hannah is developmentally. When she was done, she "scored" Hannah...and an average score should be between 84-114.

Hannah was 107 for gross motor skills and 109 for fine motor. Wow. She's doing wonderfully for her adjusted age. As for her actual age of 6 months, her scores were in the 70's -- which means that Hannah is "mildly delayed." But, they actually expected a baby born this early to be severely or moderately delayed at the 6-month mark and then to catch up gradually over the next year, so it is quite impressive that Hannah scored in the 70's. I was given some playtime "activities" to help with her development, but that's it -- I was told to just keep playing with her and talking to her....and I can do that. We go back in October.

Our 6-month doctor appointment isn't until early August, as our pediatrician is on vacation....and that's when we'll be discussing when to start cereal - messy times are coming to our kitchen!
