We celebrated Gavin's 2nd birthday with dinner over at Rachel & Ryan's house tonight. Rachel went ALL OUT on Gavin's cake. I've never seek a cake this complicated made for a toddler party. She put a lot of effort into the cake - I can't imagine ever doing anything this time-consuming, so I'm really impressed that she took the time to make it. She told us she thought it would take 2-3 hours and it ended up taking all day. Here are some pictures of the cake, that Hannah referred to as the "candy cake" all evening.
After dinner Gavin opened his presents. At first, he didn't want to open anything, but rather just wanted to throw the small packages on the floor -- primarily because he wanted to open the big one (a basketball hoop) that we got him.
Gavin was so excited to see his cake...even though we were closing in on bedtime for the kids, he did manage to blow out the candle with a little help from dad. We ALL enjoyed eating the cake -- it was delicious and had just about every kind of candy imaginable on it. Kudos to Rachel for making it (even if she swears she'll never do anything like it again....).
We ended the fun party with a bit of story time from Grandpa Woolley and Uncle Josh.
