Tea Party

Hannah was invited to her first friend birthday party.  Her first non-family birthday party ended up being so much fun.  Her friend Rachel turned four years old and Rachel's mom (my friend Ellen) hosted a tea party for Rachel and three of her friends.

When the girls arrived (in their dresses), they made hats for tea (with some mom help for the hot glue gun) by putting flowers and ribbons on hats that Ellen found for each girl.  The girls each also had a "placemat" labeled with their names ("Princess Hannah") that they got to color and decorate with stickers that was put on the back of each girl's chair with tulle.  After making their hats and seat decorations, the girls went upstairs where Rachel opened a few nice presents.  Then, it was time for tea.

Ellen prepared finger sandwiches, scones, lemon tarts, and fruit and cheese kabobs for the girls.  The girls ate on real china and had their choice of lemonade or raspberry tea in teacups (Hannah chose water - the adventurous girl she is!).  The food was delicious!!!  I'm sure the moms were glad that Ellen made plenty!  Hannah did a great job of trying the new foods and actually ate quite a bit.  Rachel's cake was a made-from-scratch lemon cake.  I was impressed (as was Ellen's mom!) and the cake was delicious.  It was a little too much for Hannah, so Jon got to enjoy her piece of cake when we got home.

I'm so glad Hannah got to enjoy the morning with the girls, and she had a great time too!
