Getting Acquainted

We're having a great time getting to know Lauren at home.  We've discovered that she is quite the "hungry hippo" and wants to eat all of the time.  She also has a very short fuse when it comes to being hungry.  She goes from sleeping to ravenously hungry and crying for food in seconds -- without warning.  (She gets this trait from her mother.)  Otherwise, Lauren is a pretty laid back baby this far.  She is a good sleeper and for a newborn has some very alert periods where she just looks around.  Her favorite place to sleep is in someone's arms or on someone's chest...she must like the warmth.  She doesn't like it when she has gas, has to burp, or dirties her diaper -- those bodily functions seem to be rough on her!  We're enjoying the down time that we have as a family.     Hannah is especially having a good time getting to know her sister.  Lauren isn't going to go short on the hugs and kisses department anytime soon if Hannah has anything to do with it.  Our goal is just keeping Hannah's hugs and kisses on the "gentle" side and not on the "headlock" side.....  Hannah doesn't exactly always know where her long limbs are flailing all of the time, so we're also trying to guard against unintended kicks and hits to the head and/or body..... We figure that Lauren is going to be tough, and she's already as big as Hannah was at 3 months, so she'll be fine!  Here are some pictures of the two of them "playing" on the floor together.
Hannah loves to get horsey rides from anyone who will give them to her.  She's having a hard time understanding why she can't ride on my back in these first few days I've been home...and tonight she asked if Lauren could ride on her back.  I figured we could let Hannah be the horse for a few seconds....and I think Hannah got a kick out of getting to play with Lauren like this....
